When Fans Get Out of Hand

It has just recently come to my attention that the Tech fans got way out of hand at the Carroll game. I know our fans are passionate and I love that we have such a dedicated group of students but, to walk into another school's stadium and blatantly disrespect their rules (regardless of which school) is wrong. And not just kind of wrong. Really wrong. I'm embarrassed to say I'm a member of Tech's student body after that game. Carroll College specifically asked Tech students not to use profanity and yet they almost went out of their way to be disrespectful. Now, the students may send me hate mail for this but it's just ridiculous. When we should have been able to walk out of that stadium with our heads held high for playing a good, clean game, the profanity of the students made walking away a walk of shame. And granted, I know students were drinking at the game. Fine. That happens regardless of what school you're at. My sister went to Carroll. She did it too. But the profanity got way out of hand and from what I've heard, Carroll came out after half-time looking to shut the Tech fans up. Now, that brings a question to mind. If our students had been respectable and not used profanity, would Carroll have come out and played that hard? Would they have beat us if they weren't looking to prove a point? Maybe, maybe not. I guess we'll never know. But the thought that disrespectful Tech students may have cost Tech a win against Carroll is kind of sickening. I can only hope that the disrespectful students clean up their act and cheer on the team in their loud, rambunctious way without resorting to low-level profanity.
